  • Peter Lane
    President and CEO

  • Peter Lane’s aviation journey is rooted in hands-on experience and a lifelong commitment to service. With over 20 years of professional experience, Peter has worked with Fortune 500 companies to address workforce development and talent acquisition challenges, nonprofit leadership, major gift fundraising, and educational development. Before accepting the challenge to establish Legacy Aviation Learning Center, he led strategic fundraising campaigns, chaired national conferences, and served on multiple boards—always with a focus on empowering others and building sustainable programs.

As President & CEO, Peter brings that same energy and vision to Legacy. He spearheaded the launch of northern Michigan’s first FAA-certified Part 147 Aircraft Mechanic Technician School, offering a fast-track 11-month program that prepares students for high-demand careers in aviation maintenance. His leadership is shaped by a deep belief in mentorship, community, and the transformative power of education.

Peter is also an Eagle Scout, a Kentucky Colonel, and a recipient of Delta Chi’s Michael L. Carroll Alumni Service Award. He’s active in his local community as a CubMaster in Scouting, President of the Grand Traverse Ski Club, and serves on the Membership Committee at Traverse City Country Club.  Whether he’s guiding students, collaborating with industry partners, or leading volunteer initiatives, Peter’s mission is clear: to help others take flight—literally and figuratively.

  • Cliff Fisher
    Program Director/Instructor

  • Clifford Fisher’s aviation career spans more than two decades of service, instruction, and leadership. His journey began in 2003 at the U.S. Coast Guard’s AMT A-School, where he first discovered his passion for aviation maintenance. Earning his FAA Airframe & Powerplant license in 2008, Cliff went on to serve 24 years in the Coast Guard, maintaining and managing MH-60T Jayhawk helicopters while also instructing and mentoring the next generation of aviation professionals. His expertise extends beyond military service, having worked on civilian helicopters with 45 North, further broadening his technical and operational experience.

As Program Director at Legacy Aviation, Cliff draws on his 15+ years of classroom and hands-on teaching to guide students through one of the most accelerated aviation maintenance programs in the country. His approach blends discipline, technical excellence, and mentorship—values refined through years of service in both military and civilian aviation.

Cliff also holds a degree in Business and Aviation from Liberty University and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). His unique combination of technical skill, educational leadership, and program management ensures that Legacy Aviation students are prepared not only to pass their FAA exams but also to succeed as professionals in a demanding and dynamic industry.

Whether in the hangar, the classroom, or at the program’s helm, Cliff’s mission remains constant: to equip the next generation of aircraft mechanics with the skills, confidence, and integrity to thrive in aviation.
