Yes—Legacy Aviation Learning Center accepts financial aid options.
We partner with TBA Credit Union to provide students access to private education loans, and we also accept private bank loans and personal payments.
At this time, we are unable to process federal aid through the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). However, expanding access to FAFSA is a top priority, and we are actively working toward making it available in the near future.

You have access to the building with your key fob, that will be assigned to you on Orientation Day. This access does include access to the building on Saturday’s where there is extra help if you need it, if you need a place to study you are welcome to use a conference room or the study room. There is free Wi-Fi. There is a kitchen with a fridge, microwave and a stovetop and oven. We also have a grill for you to use as well; it was kindly donated to us by the EAA. You can bring food to keep in the kitchen for lunch and snacks. Our students have organized Friendsgiving’s before too! We do have a printer you have access to for school stuff. We have parking available too. We try and host monthly Lunch n’ Learn’s for our students. The subjects can include personal budget, resumes/interviews, chats with aviation maintenance mechanics. We do provide lunch for the students on that day. We have a beautiful hangar that is a part of your curriculum, and you will be able to spend time in with your instructor doing hands on projects.
On Saturdays we have someone available between 9am-3pm. He can help with questions. You can come to use the building for a quiet place to study.

Sometimes the hardest part is the waiting. You might be a high school senior excited to graduate, or a non-traditional student ready to change the course of your life by joining our program. Wherever you are, patience is important. The loan process takes time, which is why we encourage you to start as early as possible. Don’t worry—we’ll guide you through each step and stay in touch as milestones approach.
Along the way, we host events—both in person and virtual—to keep you connected and prepared. These may include discussions on aviation maintenance topics, readings, or just fun gatherings like ice cream socials, a TC Pit Spitters game, Cherry Festival activities, and of course, graduation. As a future student, you’ll be invited to join us for these events and start building connections right away.
As Orientation Day gets closer, we’ll help you get everything in order—like making sure you have the day off work. Orientation is a full day dedicated to getting to know Legacy Aviation Learning Center, your instructors, and your classmates.
If you have any questions at any point, please reach out to your recruiter or contact me directly:

Our program runs for 12 months total, with about 11 months of class time and built-in breaks throughout the year. You’ll enjoy several long weekends, a holiday break in December/January, and Spring Break to recharge (or escape the cold!).
In the summer, we also take a week off to coincide with Traverse City’s National Cherry Festival—a week-long celebration at the end of June and beginning of July that includes parades, concerts, carnival rides, and fireworks. It’s a great time to enjoy Northern Michigan, and since the area is busy with visitors, we’ve found it’s the perfect time for students to relax and take a break.

Yes. We meet with each student one-on-one 3 times throughout the year. We meet once about halfway through General, then Airframe and then Powerplant.
During the Airframe meeting we start having the discussion about jobs like where do you want to live, is there a company that you want to work for and then we start helping with resumes and our goal is that by the one-on-one during the Powerplant session you might have some interviews set up and could have a couple of job offers already. We will do all we can to help you get set up with a job offer.

You will need to make sure you have a laptop or a 2 in 1 tablet. We recommend a Microsoft user friendly version because that is what we use here at Legacy Aviation Learning Center. You can use an Apple but as you might know it is not super compatible. Most of your content is digital. Make sure you always bring a charger, and the standard school stuff like a notebook, writing utensils etc.

No, we do not have a standard uniform for the school. You should dress comfortably for your school days. Our building is kept warm in the winter and cool in the summer but dressing in layers does help. We have closets for coats and boots. You can wear hats as well. If we are doing a special event, we might ask you to wear your Legacy swag like the hat or shirt to help us represent our school. After you pass your first General test you do receive a Legacy Aviation Learning Center mechanics shirt, which is a big deal. We might ask you to wear that sometimes too for special occasions.
Safety is always our priority. Students are expected to dress appropriately for lab and hangar activities. We provide essential safety gear such as safety glasses and gloves, and during certain lessons you may be asked to wear long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toe shoes to ensure proper protection.
